Our Story

About our founders

Chester Mitchell is the Lead Pastor of Capital Community Church in Ashburn, Virginia, which he and his wife, Marion, founded in 1996. Pastor Mitchell has used his gifts as a church planter, communicator, leadership coach, and mentor to impart God’s grace and motivate people to reach their highest potential. He is the author of two books, The Gravel Road to Heaven and The Healing Road to Heaven.

Pastor Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Queens College of the City University of New York (1980). He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Christian Life College in Stockton, California (1984). Prior to his ministry in Virginia, he served from 1984–1996 as the Executive Pastor of Christian Life Center in Stockton under his mentor, Bishop Kenneth F. Haney.

Pastor Mitchell’s ministry has taken him across the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, El Salvador, Haiti, and Jamaica, where he and his wife, Marion, were born. The two were happily married for almost 40 years until Marion’s death in 2025.
